Threats/Benefits

Shenandoah Mountain provides wonderful habitat for plants and animals, clean drinking water for thousands of people, and a wide variety of recreational opportunities.  Everyone who lives in the Shenandoah Valley benefits from a healthy Shenandoah Mountain, and so does our local tourism-based economy.  Shenandoah Mountain is at a critical juncture. New threats that could have profound effects on Shenandaoh Mountain are coming our way, such as industrial energy development. We would like to see this special place remain wild and natural so that we can continue to derive the many benefits we enjoy now.
