Students in an Eastern Mennonite University Conservation Photography class taught by Professor Steve Johnson will be focusing in on Dominion's proposed 42" gas pipeline for their class project this fall.  Their creative work will be shared with organizations opposing the pipeline.

The pipeline route encroaches on our proposed Shenandoah Mountain National Scenic Area, near Braley Pond and Ramseys Draft Wilderness.  On their first field trip the students visited Braley Pond, Gardner Springs (source of Staunton's municipal water), and an Augusta County farm.

This project is the second collaboration between Friends of Shenandoah Mountain and Steve Johnson's conservation photography class.  In fall 2013, the class photographed the Shenandoah Mountain area.  Many of their photos have been used on our web page and Facebook page and in our publications and displays.

The photos below were taken by Steve Johnson and FOSM co-chair Lynn Cameron on the first field trip.
