The collaborative effort to permanently protect Shenandoah Mountain has gained national media attention. THIS AMERICAN LAND, a conservation newsmagazine series aired on public television, has just released an episode on Shenandoah Mountain. The series promotes public awareness and informed debate about serious issues affecting America’s landscapes, waters, and wildlife.
The film crew came the Shenandoah Valley in November 2015 and interviewed Friends of Shenandoah Mountain co-chairs Thomas Jenkins and Lynn Cameron, Virginia Wilderness Committee Executive Director Mark Miller, and a variety of local supporters of the proposal. The crew spent two days filming at Hone Quarry, Little River, Reddish Knob, North River Gorge, Staunton Dam, and North River Campground in the George Washington National Forest. They also filmed in Harrisonburg and Mt. Solon. Your friends and neighbors who appear in the episode are pictured below.
The 8-minute segment on Shenandoah Mountain is the third story in Series Six, Episode #602. The Shenandoah Mountain piece begins at about 18 minutes into the episode. View the episode online or wait until it comes to a public television station near you.
