Friends of Shenandoah Mountain has developed a virtual tour of the proposed Shenandoah Mountain National Scenic Area so that our supporters from near and far can learn more about the natural beauty and biodiversity of this special place in the George Washington National Forest. We hope that after taking the tour, you will feel inspired to visit the area.
Take a Virtual Tour
We are continuing to work toward permanent protection of the area through Congressional designation as a National Scenic Area to ensure that this outstanding natural resource with be there for future generations to enjoy. People can continue to hike, bike, ride horses, hunt, fish, camp, and take scenic drives, just as they do now. The big difference is that the area will not be available for industrial development, such as fracking for natural gas.
Many thanks to all the photographers who have allowed us to use their work.
